Come visit a rehearsal!
Guests are always welcome. You can sing with us on the risers or just listen for awhile. Either way, we like to share our love of 4-part harmony with you.
What happens when I visit?
At your first rehearsal, you will be greeted by a member of the membership committee. You have the choice to either watch us or sing on the risers with us. If you want to sing, a member of our music team will take you aside and listen to your voice. She will then assign you to one of the 4 vocal parts that characterize barbershop music — tenor, lead, baritone, or bass. In general, tenors sing the highest harmony notes, leads sing the melody, basses sing the lowest notes, and baritones harmonize by singing the remaining notes in the barbershop chord.
What's a typical rehearsal like?
We rehearse on the risers from 7:00-9:30. There is a published schedule that we follow so everyone knows what will be worked on that night. We usually have a stretch break about half way through. A short business meeting follows at 9:30. We are usually done by 10:00 PM.
Is there a dress code?
Just wear whatever is comfortable. If you sing with us, you'll be standing on the risers so comfy shoes are a must.
Is there an age limit?
We embrace singers of all ages. Our chorus ranges from teenage to singers in their 80's. Singing definitely keeps you young! (Singers under the age of 18 must have a relative present at all chorus activities.)
